Volvo Penta Easy Connect

I have a 2005 FV 342 with twin Volvo 5.7s (EVCmc).  I would like to connect my engines to my NMEA 2000 network to view engine stats through my chart plotter.  I came across Volvo's Easy Connect which is supposed to work with my engines. Apparently, it also has a Bluetooth connection to allow you to see your engine performance on a phone or tablet.  I found the interface for $370 and it looks like I only need one unit.  Has anyone tried it?

I looked at the Volvo Penta product to build out an NMEA 2000 network, but my 2006 boat does not have the six-pin or eight-pin connector required. However Yacht Devices sells a product that connects to my 10-pin EFI engine diagnostics plug with an adapter. The cost is $189 plus free shipping plus the cost of the adapter cable.

On another note... Does anyone know where the HCUs are located?  Are they behind the dash, in the engine compartment, or elsewhere?  Thanks!

I just installed it for my 2006 Rinker 342 Volvo Penta 5.7 OSI and it's working well.

Any chance you have and can share any pictures of you install?
i think i can make this work on my engines even though it is not listed as compatible on the VP website by using the adapter mentioned above.

Will take some pictures next time to visit boat.

Part of my problem is that I'm not sure which EVC version I have.  I have twin 2005 5.7 OSi-DF engines. I called VP for help and all they did was refer me to a dealer who will do the entire install.

This never did seem to be the best option from what I have read. The Yacht Device product I installed was not very expensive and seems to be more useful than the Volvo product. The YD device can have a WiFi connection added in so you can see the data on your mobile device.
