I must say I am getting a bit discouraged with this new to me 2005 342.  Every system has not worked and needed repair.  I know it had set for a few years before I bought it but it sure seems odd everything would be in poor condition.  OK venting done for now.....  My A/C panel will not power up.  I have the shore power on, main breaker on for the a/c, and the a/c breaker on.. The display will not light or power up.  While I am at it.  Other then getting it to power up is the only other thing needed is to open the thru hull?  Thanks in advance!

    Where the battery selectors are, toggle switch labled: Cabin Panel.

    Yes, Batteries selectors and both switches were on. Thanks for asking.  I had not turned them on at first, then thought I should.  Did not make any difference.

    Are the 2 green lights lit on your main breaker panel??

    After reading Handymas response I realized I only have the shore power plug in. I only have one outlet on the dock.  Will the A/C work if I only plug the A/C plug in?  I have two cables but only one outlet at the dock.

    Or 2 cables = one for main, one for A/C

    Can I run the a/c to check it out with out having the shore power plug plugged in, just the a/c to shore power?

    Yes, you can run that boat with one cord connected to a splitter at the boat.  Consider spending a little extra to get an EEL adapter.  It's a simple clamp-on connector instead of the old-style screw-on:

    I have a 50 amp to a 30amp adapter, a 50amp spliter to two 30 amp adapter, but not a 30 amp slipter.  I guess the need for more stuff never ends. Handymans not sure why you would chime in with such a post, but that is your opinion.   I am here looking for help. Thankfully most are doing just that.  If you feel better bashing so be it. Thank you to those who are willing to share their experience.

    Pay no attention to Handy. It can be frustrating figuring out a new/used boat and finding the things that probably never got used and don’t work now. We’ve all been there, your doing the right thing asking questions and conquering each issue one by one. That’s all you can do, by next year you’ll be on the water confident that everything works. Keep plugging away and enjoy the education in learning your boat. Oh.... and yea get a 30a splitter, you’ll have to buy one eventually :)

    @johnep to test you don't even need a splitter. There are 2 connections - house and AC and either you use a cord to each or one that splits into 2. Plug into the other, your board should show a green light for the AC source instead of showing it for the house.

    Its only a Sinker when you buy a cheap a$$ lift that can not support the weight of the boat and it breaks.......... Some people just should not own a boat. Sorry I had to say it......... LOL
