Trilux 33 update

the Trilux 33 held up great!! I did two coats in the spring and these pictures are after a light power washing yesterday (9/20/18). All I need next spring is 1 can for a quick touch up! I recommend it. See me earlier post for spring pictures

    Looks great! Same here, I’m at the point where I buy one can in the spring and it’s enough to touch up both drives, really it gets me a light coat on each drive

    Looking good. I will probably go that route next spring.

    Pretty sure any paint would do fine in fresh water... it's salt where it counts!!

    Negative last year I used the mercrusier phantom black with the green primer and in one season the paint and pitting was noticeable. This year no new pitting to note

    You can't compare Trilux to regular spray paint. Trilux is an anti fouling paint

    Does anyone use Trilux 33 on props?  Thinking of using it on my BIIIs.  Website says it’s ok.  Thanks

    Leave them clean they go faster.

    Never attempted the Trilux in the props just outdrive. I have read bottom paint will not stick to props it will fly off. I would assume Trilux would also but not sure. It definitely works wonderful on outdrive

    Agree never saw the need for props, they always come out clean

    From personal experience -- Primocon/Trilux will not stick to stainless props.

    I sprayed my drive this past Saturday and I need more than one can. I am sure that next year I will be able to go the touch up route.

    Yes 2 cans per drive for full coating. But I also had the Trilux primer also. So that would make 3 cans the first year per drive.

    If it's the fist time, 1 can of primer per drive and 2 cans of top coat per drive.

    For spraying Trilux 33 on a Bravo 3 I used one can per drive the first time and that was all I needed. They were not bright and sninny merc black anymore, pretty faded. For annual recoats I get away with one can for both drives just fine.

    My normal spring touch-up (fresh water) is:
    • Pressure-wash
    • Remove props
    • Scrub hard using a Scotchbrite pad soaked with paint thinner
    • Brush/scrape anything that is corroded
    • Wipe with clean thinner on a clean rag
    • Tape for overspray
    • One can of Primocon for two drives, focus on corroded areas
    • One can of Trilux per drive

    There have been years recently when it was much more involved because of a boat nearby that had stray current issues.  Now that he's gone, it's much easier.

    I normally use Pettit prop paint and it does fairly well for me...until I get sand and cleans right off.  When I pull my drive, I have barnacles on the props where no paint is left and no barnacles on the paint.  Just wish it would stick!  I may try priming...anyways thanks for the tips.
