Bunk length (do they extend to the transom)

So my thoughts have been that the bunks should extend at least to the transom but on another forum I am on a member said Sea Ray recommends the bunks stopping about 4" short of the transom? Mine are about 6" short on my new 2006 Crownline 250 with a brand new 2016 Venture tandem axle trailer.
I have a few options for moving my bunks back but just wondered what the consensus was?

    Glass guys and technicians I trusted said to always have the bunk extend fully to the end of the transom or even a couple of inches past to reduce shear-point loads at that point and possible creation of hull deflection. Every boat I have owned for decades has sat this way on its trailer.

    Owned many trailer boats over the years. Aluminium and Glass.  Always bunks to end or just past transom. Lotsa weight there.

    Yep. Just what I thought and what I have read. Not sure where that member got his info.
