    We have that Crap in Florida along with flesh eating bacteria. Can't swim anywhere anymore!

    That’s the lake we boat on posted yesterday the cause is Storm runoff ,fertilizers,septic, two or three weeks hot weather and lots of sen  .and the bacteria just blooms

    This use of fertilizer has greatly increased our capacity to supply food for the planet, but it has come at a cost. Nature can't cycle that much phosphorus each year. Instead it accumulates in soil and in the water. Because of human activity, the phosphosphorus "cycle" becomes more like a one way dead end. The heavy use of fertilizer, and the runoff of phosphorus in particular, has caused a major issue in lakes and streams.

    Certainly an issue here in FL- we have the red tide but I don't know that this is local. My area of the intercostal on the east coast of Fl is in real trouble and also the everglades. Our new governor so far is being very proactive and understands the tourist impact of our beaches and fishing here in FL- unlike the dumb **** Gov. Scott who somehow is now in congress...anyway, the runoff is a huge issue here in FL as well. Not so much farming but lawns and golf courses! We have over 2000 of them here in FL!

    I thought the algae was bad 

    Plans nixed for a 2.4 mile swim in the Chicago River, where the city dumps sewage almost every time it rains.

    Along the Riverwalk, where the race would have ended, levels of fecal bacteria have spiked more than 4x higher than state standards this year. https://gispub.mwrd.org/awqa/

    I like how all the dirty beaches in SC are around Myrtle Beach.  Chuck town (Charleston for those not local) i would have thought would have been on the list at least a few days.  All the down town live aboards by the bridge anchoring free in the river . probably dont pay a pump out.

    Locals don't go to myrtle, murrels inlet is great for fishing. Charleston, folly, iop, Huntington are where the locals go in sc for the beach.  How is the small cabin cruising scene around chuck town? Any good sand bars for me to take the gf?

    SC beaches are clean - but our creeks are not. Shem's - the most popular one and the one for young coeds to paddleboard with beer - is the dirtiest by far. The Stono has had human waste dumped into it too - most notably after a line burst near Costco. I was entertaining my little sisters friends that day on waterski's, wakeboards, and tubes. We ALL were horribly sick for a week after, didn't hear about the sewer leak until the following evening.

    But generally, the waters south of Charleston are clean - there's no much there to dirty them. More seclusion.
