Loss power to engine. Also losing drive oil

Boat it an 2002 342 with 6.2 mercs bravo3, had an issue started end of last season losing drive oil, changed the reservoir had no issue then yesterday went for a very short run and lost all oil by the time we got back to dock. Also on this short cruise we completely lost power to the port engine. I was able to jump ignition and get running again to get docked. I'm just about out of ideas to solve this problem, put in new alternators and checked volts on both motors showing 14. Any help is greatly appreciated

    Lost power you mean charging or horse power or the engine just quit?  

    Loss of outdrive gear oil?  You can pressure test the foot with a cheap bike tire pump.

    Most common leak is fishing string around output shaft behind the inside prop.

    Yes loss of outdrive oil, and engine quit. When back to the dock I put the ignition back to normal and had power again that's what's confusing to me

    Nothing known yet, trying to find someone with a code reader to run diagnostic, I was given one that can send Bluetooth to your phone but we don't have the proper wire harness to connect that to

    Could the outdrive have overheated and seized? I know I hit an unexpected mud shoal once - the engine would start but stall the instant I put it in gear (prop locked in mud). I realized it immediately before I caused any damage thankfully...

    If you have Smartcraft on the engine - identified by the logo on the cleaner cover - and you just want to read one engine at a time you can plug into the Smartcraft connector at the top of the engine at the top behind the cover. You only need extra harnesses etc if you want to read both at the same time and keep live while running.

    We are starting to narrow down the gear oil leak, what is required to fix the nipple/elbow at the transom mount? Someone tried telling me I need to pull the motor others said pull the drive?

    the outdrive must come off and the bell housing. The motor can stay if you take off the water housing it is easier to get to the E clip that holds the inside of the plastic piece.

    Yes, pull boat to remove outdrive unless you want your boat to sink
