  Yes, well, in the US we have these things called launch ramps.  And if you want to make your boat slow and heavy, we have these things called diesel engines.

  Someday, I will be wealthy enough to buy my own private island, but too cheap to build a pier with a lift.  This will be the perfect solution to my dilemma.

  Think about living close to the water but not on it. You could park that thing in the garage and just drive it there and back.
