Garmin river maps

Anyone use a Garmin to navigate and show distances traveling on the rivers?  Think it's expensive to download those maps off Garmin site. No more than I will use it not worth it.
I tried finding one on the internet maps but no luck on river travel distances. Just thought it would be useful  as far as fuel required.

I using the navionics maps on my phone. The yearly subscription is pretty cheap for what you get.

I have a Garmin 541s and I bought the card for lakes and rivers...think I have 600 tied up...I bought it for my bow rider as we really went all over the place and sure is great for unfamiliar areas and the tide charts were very helpful. I don't know if the charts can be updated...probably not much need another than locating Marina's and such...

Navionics has cards also for some plotters, around $150 I think.

I think navionics was $55 for the year and I can login to any tablet or phone and use them. Plus when I am at home I can plan trips or explorer the maps to find new stuff. Just found a small campground with a dock last week and made a route from my marina that is now saved.
