I don't currently know of a Specific Service bulletine regaurding shift cable breakage.  I have seen one other cable break on a DTS boat, but that had over 500 hrs on it.   I personally have logged well over 500 hrs of actuall drive time on an Axius Mercuriser in a Rinker.   The only Item I wore out was a trhust washer on the drive.  This was adressed very early on and I know all BIII's had an change in production to include as HD thrust washer.   I can not tell you where the cables are made, I don't know.  I would suspect in the US.   Where did the cable break?  At the end where it attaches to the Drive???  Al
