Drive Ratios

What would the drive ratios be on my ‘08 330, Merc 5.7 ? I had someone ask me and I wasn’t sure.

    Most 5.7 B3's were 2.20 I believe, but it can vary. If you have the drive serial number it's easy to search.

    Yea, I don’t have the serial numbers handy.

    My drive serial is OW900042 - how do I find the ratio?

    My 02 270 and my 05 342 both are 2.20 and both are 5.7 350 mag. 2.2 turns of the motor to 1 full turn of the prop shaft. I have checked my when they were on the stand.

    And punch in the serial number. It shows it as a 2.20.

    @YYZRC that link will also work with engine and transmission serial numbers too. Good for not only identifying parts but also how they all go together.

    Thanks! I use it all the time for engine parts but never thought of dumping the outdrive serial in - guess I haven’t needed parts yet.

    Did the 8.1 use a 2.2 ratio as well?

    As I was reading from the top I was trying to remember what the 8.1 is. I don't believe it is 2.2 but I can't remember off hand what it is. I want to say it is a lower ratio as this is a lower RPM engine with more torque.
