Gas tank valves

Have a 2003 Fiesta Vee, 2 gas separate gas tanks, One tank stays full, the other runs both motors and generator. Am lost. At one time both tanks showed 3/4 full, went for and ride. the next day port gauge showed full, starboard. Thought furlgauge was faulty, went to gas up. port took less than 1 gallon starboard took 67 gallons. Generator runs fine so do both motors. What do I check or replace?

    You should have three fuel valves in the engine room.  They have a yellow handle.  The middle one is a crossover valve.  For normal operation, the port and starboard valves should be open, and the crossover valve in the middle should be closed.

    I had 4 on my 342. One for generator and one for each engine and a crossover

    How do you isolate the fuel to the generator??

    On my 330 I don’t think you can. It’s fed from the starboard tank and you can only turn the valve off.

    I can't run my generator from the starboard tank.  Didn't realize this until a discussion here last week.

    Yep, on the 400 it takes fuel for genny from stbd side.  All while you fill the waste tank on the port side...and your shower drains to the stbd side.  By end of weekend on hook, you need people to stand on stbd side swim platform to shower! :smile:

    My 03 342 has three valves as indicated in the top diagram.  I normally keep them all open.
    It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere!

    The 342 has a 4th valve. For the genset. It is tucked Away on the firewall port of the battery charger.

    If you close the crossover valve, fuel contamination in one tank can't migrate to the other.  Granted, it's a low risk, but you don't gain anything by keeping the valve open.

    If you keep them all open do they feed evenly? I thought for the tanks to run down evenly the crossover needs to be closed.

    I think the problem has been solved. Thank everyone for their help. The port valve was closed. Some how I must have hit it when climbing out of the engine room. The drawing was very helpful. Thanks again.
