2005 FV 320 engine overheat

yesterday while were out my starboard engine overheated .Background - we were running pretty close to idle speed for about 4 hrs when the starboard side 5.0 overheated . It was running fine and at temp up in till then .  Wasn't running hot at all . Not sure if this has anything to do with it but right before it overheated a boat with a fairly large wake went by us and swamped the swim platform .My thought is it sucked something up but not sure how to check for it . The boat is in a marina and I don't have access to pull it out .  Any suggestions ?

    might want to pull the feed and see if it sucked something up in it... it could be that a piece of somethingsomething is either limiting the flow or is keeping it from spinning... or, maybe even broke it..

    Have you checked the recirculating pump on front of the engine the water pump is like the one on your car that the fan is bolted to I had one go bad last year they start off leaking shows rust on front

    If you find no blockages then try tightening the seaclamps on the water pump hoses. Over time the hoses get softer and need to be tightened. The water pump creates a huge vacuum and if the clamps are slightly loose air gets sucked in. Hence the air bubbles get super heated and increase the engine temp... I have had this happen twice so now I double clamp the water pump hoses.

    All Marine hoses should be double clamped
