Drain holes in swim platform

I'm trying to decide if I can enlarge two of the drain holes in my swim platform.  Each side has two holes -- see photo of the underside of the platform.  The large holes (about 1" diameter) drain the cupholders molded into the transom seat.  The smaller holes (about 3/16") drain the wet storage under the transom seat.  

The small drain is just way too small.  It constantly gets clogged, so my storage compartment never drains.  Any reason not to get a drill and make it bigger?  The top end of the hole (inside the storage compartment) is about 3/8".  I'd like to make it 3/8" at both ends.

    No reason at all as long as you protect the raw fiberglass properly

    I just looked at another photo of the 1" drain hole from beneath the platform.  Two layers, maybe 1/2" air gap between them.  It's wet because I had just dumped water into the cupholders.  This opening is exposed to seawater.

    I will try to get a better picture showing the layers.  Seems odd to just leave it open.

    I'd love to open mine up as well.  Any rain that comes down the back of the boat rolls into that space and just takes a while to dry out. I typically only put rafts or swim noodles in that space.
