Replacement cooler for the 270

Does anyone know where to buy the cooler that fits in the gunwale on the starboard side of the 270? I have tried binging coolers aboard, but I feel like if I use the space how it was intended, that would work out much better.

I have a better idea. I replaced mine with a mobicooler. They make a fabric shell cooler (blue) that fits perfectly in the spot for my 260ec. I routed 12v to that compartment (easy job) and plugged her in. I now have a drink fridge of sorts, which is helpful especially for overnight trips when the cabin fridge is filled with perishables.

Thanks Mark! Seems like a great idea.. ill decently do more research on this. Practically, how much does it hold?

It holds almost as much as the original cooler. It works pretty good for us.

Mark, seems like a neat idea, but almost $400?  Just seems a bit high for what it is.

I didn't pay close to that. I got mine at Canadian Tire for like $170.

That's a bit more reasonable, especially if it works well for your needs.

It basically gets your drinks to 20'C (36F) cooler than ambient. You have to keep it plugged in, as it takes a long time to get cool, but once it's there it stays cool.  For those with bigger boats, you can buy 2 at that price!! LOL

I tried looking at the current draw in the specs, but had a hard time with their website.

That was a great price drop. I was waiting for the.. "but wait there's more".. It really looks tempting for a quick portable fix in a moderate climate.

"It basically gets your drinks to 20'C (36F) cooler than ambient."

So that's about 70* cold drinks on a typical balmy Fl summer day..... :D Ice will continued to be sacrificed at an alarming rate to keep the crew in chilly beverages down here.

Yeah, I'm sorta whiny, Summer arrived yesterday when it hit 90+ for the 1st time this year and I know whats coming. So it's officially boating season for you guys. I've got about 4wks left of mine but it's been a good winter of boating in the tropics so I can't complain too much.

So Mark, you keep perishibles in your main fridge? hey - so do I, they're called beers and do they ever perish fast. So what's the soft sided cooler for? the Admiral's hard lemonade? :-) MT

The soft cooler is backup beer stock.

    Congrats.

PS, there's a LOT of unused/wasted space behind that plastic insert to add a really nice sized cooler. Mine came out and now holds a Texas sized 60qt Gott for long weekend or seriously hot days when mucho beverages are required. Easily the simplest mod to improve cockpit space and increase barley pop capacity that I've done on our 270.

    Just sayin'. Mike

Now  that's the type of mod that a REAL boater comes-up with - clearly one that seperates the men from the boys!! :-) MT
