Trim at lower speeds

The bow of my 212 Cuddy stays quite high at slower speeds.  I'm usually on the Rideau river in Ottawa, and there are a lot of no wake zones at which point I can keep the boat level at about 10 km/h.

If I want to speed up, but keep the speed at around 15 - 20 km/h the bow stays up so high, I cannot safely see anything ahead of the boat.

Thoughts anyone?

Do you have the drive all the way down?

There are laws of physics that you can't overcome.  Do a web search on "hull speed" and you'll see what I mean.  Your hull just isn't going to like going 15-20 km/h.

Drive trimmed down, trim tabs all the way down ... that's all you can do.

Adjustable trim tabs can help keep the noise down. Also transfer weight to the bow of the boat.  Less fuel if weight in back.

Install a Corsa exhaust so everyone can hear you driving by.

I have the Captain's Choice exhaust and I can only tolerate the through hull exhaust for short periods.  I must be getting old.

I'm with River Rat. Love the sound of the Corsa Captain's Choice exhaust - but likely not on a 6 hour cruise!!

They have a Y valve so you can send the exhaust out the drive or out the side.

Or just touch the name and in their profile page there is a message box. Well on a phone. If on a computer it will just leave a finger print.

A 4 blade prop from hill marine gives more lift if they make one for what looks like an alpha 1.

My boat is big, long and heavy for a single prop.  I used to have to run tabs down completely to track at idle speeds,  now I keep them at a level running position thanks to a crusing speed list.

Another fix for some stern heavy boats is chain...lots of anchor chain in the front locker if you have one.  It's more of a bandaid than fix.

Trim tabs would be the best fix but that transom shape isn't friendly to tabs

Another cheap item to try is a a hydrofoil.  I put one on the week before I put on my hill marine big cow prop.  I also have some 100 ft of chain.  My top speed is 22mph so keeping my nose down was a bit of an issue with only 220hp.

Thanks all.  Might try the hydrofoil.  My wife said the Corsa exhaust is a hard no!!
