    I have a VV 702.  It's a great system -- if you upgrade all of your sensors to digital.  For your 2007, that would mean outdrive trim senders and tank senders.  Most people install a VV as part of a conversion from analog gauges to digital.

    To me, the major benefit is a real-time display of MPG, which is a good indicator of your boat's overall health.  If anything goes wrong, you'll see it right away as a drop in MPG.  

    You can also do the VV Mobile and see data on the phone.  Not as useful, but better than nothing because you can read engine codes.

    I will say that the VVM product has gotten better. It does give you real time data, just not as convenient as having it as a gauge on the dash.

    I use VVM and bring up on iPad when cruising, have a nice mount that sucks to the dash/gauge arch well just below the windscreen or I even place over on the port side flat top as it’s really easy to see and glance over as needed. This works for me without the expense of a full dash conversion/mod for VVM.

    I only use VVM on phone typically when I just start her up each week if I’ve not been out for a few days to look at temperature and pressures as she warms.

    I installed VVM on my 310 last spring thanks to lots of help from @icoultha.  I used my iPhone which is a bit small to view so I am looking to install a tablet this year. Ian do you have any photos of your mount and location to help us decide?

    Installed my VVM last season.  A little pricey with twins due to all the cables, but still definitely worth it.  With single engine, a very cheap way to get a lot of real time information.  Discovered several of my analog gages were off.  I have mine set up with the iPad.  Where it sits, I still get full view of the chart plotter, as well as the switches below.

    Not the best photos due to the light but readability is no issue.


    Asking my son the brand of mount as was a gift and is stored away now. I asked for one, he researched and the one I was looking at he said was no good and found the better one.

    I'd bet the mount is by Ram Mounts.  Their stuff is pretty solid.

    This is the mount I got.  it's suction cup stick-on. Figured it wouldn't hold and I'd at least be taking it off when not on the boat.  But I put it on in Spring and it stayed on by itself all season.  Still on as far as I know.

    Yes @LaRea, he just confirmed, Ram Mounts. Very good, sticks like sh&t to a blanket. Quick flip and it comes off easy though only when needed to.

    I installed VVM module behind the helm seat next to the garbage bin, ran a cable from each engine to a junction box and plugged in the module. not tested yet waiting to launch in April. I installed one of my tablets where the Lowrance Fishfinder was installed. Used mirror clips, the top one turns so I can easily take in or out.

    @Pat310, the tablet shown is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4" 32GB Android. The Nav App is Navionics Boating & Lakes. It requires an annual subscription of around $25 and you can load it on several devices.

    BTW I often use my VV702 as a second nav display.  For example, I'll use the VV as a wide-area chart display, and use the Raymarine for short-range chart with radar overlay.

    @LaRea, backup systems are ingrained in me from my many sailing trips offshore for many days prior to GPS. Loran didn't work and you were lucky to get a fix once a day from SatNav.
    I have a second tablet mounted in a Ram mount, If they go down my analogue gauges will still give me info on the engines and I also have a small Lowrance Chart Plotter and I always have a paper chart. Probably overkill but Murphy is always around the corner  :o

    I’m really happy w my iPad mount. Bought a suction cup mount on Amazon and deconstructed it to just use the clamp.

    Ram Mounts are good, my son bought me one I use as mentioned above and you can pick the parts you want to make up anything it seems.

    @icoultha, yes my second (backup) tablet is mounted in a Ram Mount but I thought it would be too bulky looking for the one in my photo above. I like the clean look of the one YYZRC has plus adaptable to size which my setup isn't.

    @icoultha , when I was with the air show team , we had photographers that would swear on using the Ram suction mounts on our aircraft. I told them that I believed them but wouldn’t let them and used screw mounts. The suction mounts are STRONG!

    We used the suction mounts in our aircraft but then they disappeared. No one seems to know what happened to then cause I wanted one for the boat. They hold very well!
