Working on the engine today I noticed a small hose is not connected to anything.  It's the small hose with a barb on the end.  It leads to the top of the engine to the device in the middle of the second pic

    Looks like it goes to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. It might not be used on your engine. It probably uses the regulator on the fuel pump.

    It's strange that it has a barb at the end.  Why would it have a barb if it's not supposed to connect to anything.

    Btw boat fired up after sleeping for the winter without any problems

    Your right, I was thinking it was a barbed plug. Maybe there’s another hose it connects to?

    I could not find another hose that it would appear to connect to,. But it's really tight space.

    I don't know how a barb fitting would come apart either...it's usually not easy to pull apart a barbed fitting.

    I posted the same question to a facebook group I'm in.  Someone said it was a vacuum line that goes to the cool fuel fuel regulator.  I found a diagram and it seems to be it.  I must have pulled it out when I was doing my oil lines.

    Hopefully an easy task to reattach

    I never knew that the two regulators are connected to each other. Let us know how you make out.

    I know on the Volvo there is a regulator on the rail and also one on the fuel pump assembly.

    Yes, same on Mercruisers. I never knew they’re connected to each other with the vacuum hose. There must be a “T” inline.

    Oh sorry I see what you said. You didn't know they were connected. I thought you didn't know there was two. Sorry...typical pilot trying to tell the mechanic how it works 😂

    Really hope this isn't hard to reconnect.  That cool fuel area is not easy to work.

    @Black_Diamond - Lol I was thinking the same.  I probably have better access than on your boat, but it's still going to suck.

    Once is a while the boat gods go easy on us.

    The other end of the hose attachment was right in front of me and I easily reattached.  It could use a spring clamp as the connection is very lose on the barb.
