Anchor Issues -1996 Rinker Festiva 212 Cuddy

My model has an anchor compartment on the bow and I am using a 20 pound navy anchor.  It's a monster to set and weigh.  Almost every time I use it, the **** thing scratches the **** out of the gel cote. I've looked at anchor rollers and mounts, but in addition to ruining the sleek aesthetic of the bow, mounting is also going to be problematic.

Any tips or recommendations?

So many anchors will outperform that one pound-for-pound.  What is your goal:  better holding power for the same weight, or less weight for the same holding power?  I'm guessing less weight.  Also, what is the sea bottom where you normally anchor?  Sand, grass, rocks?

    Hey Larea,
Mud!  Lots of mud and weeds.  Fresh water.

By the way, I also have a Danforth, which, although lighter, is a bit too wide for the locker.

I have a small Bruce that I use as a stern anchor which works great in sand, mud and weeds!
