Shift lever/ gear selector loose

Hello,

I have an 06 captiva 226. The gear selector/ shift lever is loose. Any clue how to remove so I can see what's going on?  It is surrounded by the leather pad but I can find what's holding it on. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Which one do you have? On my Volvo I had to remove a plastic cover carefully with a flat head screwdriver then unscrew it from the panel.

    It is an 06 Rinker Captiva 226.

    Sorry I meant which type of throttle/gear selector. Mine looks like this one. If I remember correctly the plastics just clip on and off and there is screws beneath them.
