RPM’s

Last week I noticed my port engine was only reaching 4500 rpm’s give or take heading out to anchor (I like to go full throttle once and a while to check things). But going back to the dock she reached 5000 rpm’s.

Today going out, same thing, 4500 rpm’s. Heading home she reached 5000 rpm’s. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Faria gauges? We all know they are hit with fist gauges. Did it sound right? were you veering left? Just my 2 cents, gauges.

    My throttles were split, that’s what made me notice at first.

    I noticed yesterday that my analog gauge is about 200-300 higher than what my chartplotter shows. Those analog gauges are so unreliable.

    To sum up my past experiences with Faria guages.....they pretty much just tell you that something is happening.

    I finally got around to replacing the plugs and distributor cap/rotor. The cap definitely showed signs of corrosion. I was surprised to see that my plugs looked like they weren’t even firing or very lean. Would a corroded cap cause this? It seemed like the port side of the port engine were leaner than the starboard side of the port engine. Almost looked brand new and not firing at all. I didn’t get a chance to take her out today to test run.

    @aero3113 that plugs looks like it wasn't connected or has a bad wire, unless they are very recently replaced. How many hours on the plugs?

    Strange thing is, they mostly all look like that.

    Wires are 1 1/2 seasons old.

    Well if they all look that good then great and 40 hours isn't much. Thought maybe your others looked a little dirtier. 

    40 hours in my opinion is only like 3000-4000 miles in a car, this is all debatable of course but just using as a reference.

    Starboard side of the engine were a little darker.

    I replaced the fuel filter also.

    The fuel rail spilts on the intake manifold so I can't see one side getting more then the other. You can check fuel pressure just to verify.

    Maybe there is something blocking one side of the fuel rail where it splits. 

    Can you post a picture of all the plugs. Now in just curious.

    I’m betting one bad plug. I had that issue at the start of the season. Hook them up to your lawnmower and have at ‘em!
