Can line?

I have twin 350 Mag MPI’s on ‘03 342. I wanting to verify that this is my can line. They are not capped and there are 4 wires running into them.

Thank you.

That looks right. Back right side of the engine?

@davidbrooks they are both on the starboard stern side.

I believe it should be port stern near the ECM.

Yep. You got it. Just make sure you unplug the power to one of the engine can lines.

Finally found them. They were buried under hoses on the back port side of each engine.

Nice.  So you will take that purple cap off.  Then plug your new can wire into that line. Just after that line it feeds into another plug.  One of them needs to be disconnected.  As you only need one engine supplying power to the mercmonitor or the gateway.  What are you connecting to?  There are several articles on here where i believe you can get away with also just cutting one of the lines.  Be careful when you mess with the CAN lines.  I was a little rough with mine and ended up having to replace one just a year later.

This thread is helpful. Make sure you are following the most recent diagrams from Merc. @Grahamu might also be able to help as he has access to service guides I believe.

Thanks for the feedback and the link.  I’ve been scouring the forums already.

Initially I’m going to connect to my Garmin and then move to a digital helm as my farina gauges suck….

I’ve seen the two open “digital helm” wires in both engines so will have to figure out how to integrate those and then fuel 😜.

    Looking forward to the journey.

Very nice @bedleman !! I like how you kept the gauges also. I like the idea of a backup if the screen goes out. Also something to compare to if you think something is off.
