Help!!!! Oil leak

Hello guys and gals. Have a new to me 1995 300 with twin 5.7 mercruisers. Have only had the boat a couple weeks and been out maybe a total of 4 hrs. I checked the oil before our first quick outing and levels were good. Took the boat for a longer 1.5hr cruise and when we got back to our slip I wanted to check the bilge to see if we took on any water. To my dismay I found oil and lots of it. Checked both dip sticks and almost none showing on either. I’ve started feeling around the engine and found there to be quite a lot of oil on the right side below the exhaust manifold. These engines have the remote oil filters and I’m wondering if maybe I’ve got leaks. Both engines are oily on the right side below the exhaust manifolds. Are these remote filters possibly the problem?  Help!  Thanks in advance

    Welcome to the forum!

    Yes, remote oil filter and lines can be the issue. There are 2 seals where the remote adapter is. My starboard engine was leaking there before I replaced the seals. I also had an oil line crack on me!!

    Wow thanks for the quick reply. Can the remote adapter be accessed without removing the engine? Can the lines be changed easily?

    On my 2008 330 I was able to access them with the engines in.

    @JakesRinker300 , if you can do what @Alswagg suggests that’s an easy fix! And if you can access your filters without the adapters, I would just leave it like that. One less thing to worry about failing.

    How do I go about removing the adapter?  I can barely see it. I can get my hand on it. Remove the lines first?  Does the adapter thread on like a filter? Or is it bolted into the block somehow?

    @JakesRinker300 , look at the 4th pic. That’s how the adapter is fastened. Yes, the lines have to come off first.

    You don’t happen to remember the wrench size for the nut for the adapter do you?  I don’t have anything that big and will need to guy buy one and I don’t want to guess.

    Sorry, I don’t remember! But I do remember it’s bigger than 1”.

    Having a hard time finding part numbers for these oil lines. How would I go about looking these up?  Looked into getting them made up at a hose shop but no luck.

    I was able to have them made at a local hose shop, 2 days before I was scheduled to launch (that’s when the hose blew on me). I used them for a few months then replaced them when I bought OEM. First pic is of the lines from the hose shop. Part numbers for OEM are below.

    I would think there’re the same part number for your year as well.

    Maybe if you search the part numbers they will list the years.

    Can anyone tell me where the oil sender is on this motor?  It’s the 5.7 bravo carbureted.

    Right hand side of the block towards the back (when looking aft towards the stern).

    Aero on top or bottom of the motor?

    On my Volvo it was on the top. Mine had a crack in the elbow fitting that leaked a fair bit. Took a while to track it down.

    So Pat, standing in front of the engine (pulleys belts) it would be on the bottom right, at the back. Just above where the remote filter adapter is correct?

    If you don't already own a bore scope aka endoscope get a cheap one on ebay/Amazon. 

    You'll want it for multitude of boat maintenance,  examination and repairs.  

    Prefect for helping to find leaks between 2 engines you don't fit between.

    Thanks for the suggestion Rick. I’ve ordered one, will be here tomorrow. Obviously I won’t be able to confirm my repair until the boats in the water and running again. COME ON MAY!!! 🙏lol
