Cabin too bright in morning

Has anyone come up with a way to keep the cabin darker for sleeping?  It doesn’t bother me but it bothers the admiral with the sunlight coming into the translucent cabin door. She will put towels over the port windows but the cabin door lets light in.

    Same problem here. Might wrap the cabin door with light control vinyl over the winter.

    On my 370, if I open the door to the head, it blocks a lot of the light.  I also close the inner screen door, which helps a bit.  

    In fact, maybe you could just wrap the screen door.  That way, the solid door would still let in light when you need it.

    There is no screen door on my 270.  My wife tries to hang towels over the door.

    For $7 you could buy the Admiral some eye shades and ear plugs and you wouldnt have to mess with the boat.

    Outside, I have black vinyl screen over all my cabin windows.

    Inside my windows are all tinted.  I also have white vinyl covers over front windows and white cloth curtains thay fold down over side windows. 

    It's a cave Inside my cabin.

    The admiral still complains when a light finds a crack.  I think its an admiral thing.

    Won't work for the cabin door but the previous owner of our boat bought some cabinet shelf liner. The black rubbery mesh stuff. They cut it to the shape of our hatch windows and lays on to of the screen so it is between the screen and glass. Helps a bunch. Could probably make them for my port windows too but haven't really had a need. They look almost factory

    Paint is too permanent.  I'd go with self-stick vinyl shelf paper.  The current or next owner could remove it in five minutes if needed.

    Vinyl is also a lot easier and no fumes or overspray and won’t look blotchy.

    So, I have the screen door and do the exact same thing LaRea does, including the bathroom door.  Sometimes I even put up black vinyl that fits in place of where the isenglass would be, that stops it all.

    You could also put up some velcro around the inside of the door and then velocro some black fabric over the doorway.  This would allow you to have light when needed and you only need to velcro it when you go to sleep.  The velcro on the doorway could be white, so it blends in.

    I had a local canvas shop make me some canvas squares that I put snaps in and mounted them to cover the port lights and the hatch. Call me crazy, but I put my cockpit cover on at night so my cabin is pitch black. My wife always sleeps in on the boat because it is so dark. I wonder if a white vinyl wrap that wasn't translucent would work on the backside of the door?

    Yes, it would work brilliantly and is designed for just such use.  I may install on the outside, however, as I'm looking for a vinyl that is more of a snow white to match the fiberglass.

    Use vinyl, less of a mess. That paint will scratch ... vinyl is easy to pull off after it's done. Paint will look crap too, with drip marks, and uneveness, unless he has a professional spray gun. Still would use vinyl all day long with this one.

    To be honest, go to a print shop, get them to do a nice white vinyl piece big enough, and put a graphic on it (boat themed?) .... or even an ocean view like this, it will look incredible, and it will block out the sun.
