Isolator location

Where is the best location to put a battery isolator on a Rinker 192?

I was thinking somewhere above the battery however unsure the best way to fix it.

    This is a new isolator. There isnt anything on the boat currently. 

    I was thinking of making a bracket just above the battery and fix it to the lip in front of the blower tubes marked so it will sit a bit lower.

    With an isolator you could add another if you wanted

    You only need an isolator if you are going to add another battery (s)

    There isn’t an isolator on the boat currently and if I leave it for a few weeks without starting it the battery goes flat. 

    I want to put an isolator so that when I don’t use it for a few weeks I can just switch the power off to everything.

    Does your boat not have a battery switch .If not then you can simply install one near the battery , this will eliminate all draws when you turn it off. An isolator controls the out put from your alternator to different battery banks.

    It's unusual not to have a rotary or breaker style battery switch to allow working on the DC circuits. Otherwise you have to disconnect the battery each time. I think it might be an ABYC requirement maybe @LaRea can comment.

    Correct there isn’t any type of switch to disconnect the battery after she is tucked away. 

    My question that I’m hoping to get some answers or photos is where should I install the battery switch?

    I would install it in the cockpit, close to the stern, on the side that is closest to the battery.

    Mine is behind a small access door, pictured below center of pic just below the radio remote.

    I f you are saying that you have no battery switch you need to install one as an isolator will not solve your problem. From your picture you have lots of room to install a second battery. If you do this you will need a 1 or 2 or all battery switch, to keep them separate or combined, and a 1 in 2 out isolator to charge them.

    @Grahamu ,I think @brettow just wants to install a switch and is calling a battery switch an isolator.

    @aero3113, I agree but maybe @brettow now has a better idea of the correct name of them in the boating world. Still think if you are going to the trouble of installing a switch a second battery would be ideal.

    probably beas place would be on the port side forward of the motor make sure when you finish the bilge pump still has power to it

    when I had my 20ft bow rider it didn’t have battery switch.  I had to get one installed because it was a requirement at the marina I was dry rack storing it.  Just make sure your bilge pump is not switched.

    Keep in mind that your bilge pumps should remain wired direct, not through the switch.
