Looking to purchase another Rinker. Loved my 270FV, but wanting to go bigger. My questions: what would be the next size up that has both an end entry bed and separate shower(no wet bath)? Looks like the 340FV, but not the 342? TIA

    The 342 (2003 and later) has a different hull that performs better and gives more room for engine access.  They both have a separate shower.  Either boat would make a fantastic upgrade to the 270.  Personally, I'd take a 342 over a 340.

    LaRea, So I take it from your comment I should be looking for >2003 342? Having both end bed entry and separate shower? A newer hull design is most definitely a bonus.

    My opinion is biased because I owned a 342 for ten years!  I put 800 hours on the boat, and enjoyed every minute of it.  

    Some people prefer the 6.2 engines.  I had the 300-HP 5.7 package, and never had any complaints about performance.  The boat would cruise all day at 30 mph getting 1.25 mpg.

    i have a 340 FV and can definitely agree that engine access is a real issue , only offset may be lower price on a 340. make sure you include a Hills type four blade props in your budget as a must have upgrade for 340 or 342.

    I have had both the 5.7 and 6.2s in very similar hulls (330 and 350) and I don’t believe there is a noticeable/appreciable difference. I think it’s 300 vs 320hp.

    My 342 had the 5.7 300hp.  With the Hill Marine 4x4 great set up.

    Yea I appreciate that he is trying to get a premium for the newer engines but 109 is a premium on a premium. Best of luck….

    Yeah but ... Imron paint is a $15k upgrade, new motors, new appliances ... $109k might not be too far off the mark. 

    I think this boat has the older hull.  Trying to remember -- the original 340 mold had the shelf astern of the engines, right?  Then they extended the engine room so there's no shelf, and better access to the fronts of the engines.  My 342 was apparently one of the first built with the new molds in March 2003.

    It’s all expensive, but unfortunately every part on the boat being brand new still won’t take it to 30% over market, especially on a salt boat.

    Like a Harley.  You can bling it up as much as you like but that doesn’t mean you’ll get the money back.

    @wellis if you want to go even bigger, there's a 370 on the market.  Same boat I have.  It's a major step up from the 342.  It has the separate shower you want, and a fully enclosed forward stateroom!  Hardtop, seating on the swim platform, digital throttle and shift.  It will cruise at 32 mph, and mine can hit 44 mph.
