filters in cool fuel module

Had these 2 filters changed a couple of years ago by marina.  They used Mercury parts and charged $125 for the 2 filters (X two engines).  Just read on another boating site about a guy who changed his own using non Merc filters for $11.99 from Amazon.  Is he taking a big chance, or am I sucker?

    I have the Amazon ones in my cool fuel modules now. And have had no issues. They’ve been in over a year now.

    I would have done it. From now on I will use non-OEM and replace 2x per season.

    I’m on my second set of the Amazon ones, never had a problem. I probably change them more often than necessary because they are so much cheaper actual Mercruiser parts.

    Dam that is great. I was spending $75 per kit on oem when I had the 342. What a deal!

    I've been using amazon ones as well without any issues.  But dang, the last time I bought them they were $35, which was half off, so I bought a few extra.  Now I wish I had just waited.  These are $8 when you apply the 20% coupon.
