Anyone recognize this wire/module

While preparing the boat for winter, I found a loose wire with an inline module.  It appears that it wasn't plugged into anything.   There is a small circuit board potted in the module. I can't see under the engine without a scope.  Does anyone recognize this?

This was in a 2015 Captiva 236 CC, with 350 Mag MPI, and Bravo 3 drive.

Strange, I never seen anything like that on my engines.

Judging by the potting job, it looks home built to me as it resembles an ice cube tray shape.  Only way to really tell is to find out what it's connected to.

I’ll try to get a pic of the connector on the weekend, but it’s a small diameter (~1/4”), two pin connector.  The cable is 2 conductor, I think 24AWG.  It joins the wiring harness on the port side of the engine, and appears to head forward on the port side of the boat.  I’ll try to see where it goes.

Doesn't look like any Merc part I've ever seen.  It's too small to provide power to anything except maybe LED lighting.  Maybe a tank level sensor?

It’s a bug, your boat was probably once owned by a mob boss.

    That does look home-made.

So, mystery solved.  The previous owner had a bilge plug light installed, this was the LED driver for it.

It's always a Flux capacitor if you can't figure it out...
