Backup Camera

I just bought this on a whim. I think it will be a good tool to have when backing into slips especially when the camper back is closed. Curious how it will work. Has a record setting which is nice. It has a magnetic mount and a removable metal base. I’m think of just mounting it on the camper back itself (area circled in red). Free returns if it doesn’t work as I’m hoping. ⚓️

I was able to cut an extra anti glare screen protector I had for my iPad.

What’s nice is that it can stay where it is when my camper back is rolled up. I forgot to take a pic of that….

I would say so far it’s a win!
was fun to play with it while under way and definitely aided with backing into the slip.

I was looking at your track. Were you literally trolling or were the kids driving on Father's Day so you could "relax"?  :D

@TonyG13 they were old tracks that I didn’t clear.

How did you mount the unit?

@ian it came with a suction cup mount. First time I’ve seen a suction cup with a sticky back. It would probably stick without using the lever for the suction cup but it gives extra security I guess.

I’m sorry, the monitor is held on by a suction cup and the camera has a super strong magnet so I found a piece of painted steel to use. Scroll up, I posted a picture.

you know...the more i think about this the more i am not quite sure i like the idea of a camera recording me backing into my slip.  I just don't think that needs to be documented.  Without video evidence I am a master of the wind and waves and always in control.  I could easily see my wife starting some social media feed of my mishaps.  Guess that is why i am glad cell phones didn't exist when i was a kid.  I have plausible deniability.

Maybe cell phones back then would have been good to show those now some reality of life. “Yes you can walk the 100yds to the next bus stop instead of the 1/2 mile we would walk…”
