New to me boat means new to me problems........albeit solved

2007 Rinker Captiva 192, 190 hours. 4.3 Mercruiser, immaculate condition. 2 small cuts upfront from removing the shrink wrap a couple years ago according to the seller. Easy fix for my retired mom that can sew anything. Drove 300 miles to get it and almost made it home before a tire blew. 30 minutes later a buddy showed up with a spare. Went and got 2 new tires the next morning, a new battery to replace the 5 year old battery, some Seabrite compound and a few other odds and ends. After replacement of the battery, all was well until it wasn't......Went to install a bluetooth Pioneer in place of the original Clarion M455. Was having an issue with ignition power and ACC power. Earlier in the day, I added a battery box in place of the tray, somehow some wires touched or something, because I had no gauges, no warning beep and engine was completely gone. Did my research and after testing the 50 amp breaker on top of the motor, I had no power to it. So that lead me to the starter 90 amp fuse. Luckily a guy 5 minutes from me repairs boats and he had a used fuse he gave me and it fired right up. So I ordered the Mercury fuse to install at a later date. I'll tell you, that was a MAJOR pain to replace. Its all by feel, I took a few videos on my phone of the area to assist me and my buddy held the fuse while I removed the nut on it. Install was just as bad, you can only get one arm in there, and when we both tried, we were in each others way, but eventually we got it. Looking forward to a weekend of camping and boating this Fathers Day.

Next modifications are some marine Kenwood speakers, steering wheel and adding a battery selector switch with a second battery.

    Welcome! - great idea to add a house battery in addition to the starting batt. Add an onboard charger too for both.

    Didja get the Pioneer installed? Had an M455 on one of my Rinker's eventually pooped out.
    Post some pics of the 192 when you get a chance....

    Here are some pictures when I got it Friday. Since then I have buffed it with the most aggressive Seabright compound, gave it a coating of Klasse, detailed the interior vigorously, compounded  and waxed the entire trailer, got the Pioneer installed, 4 Kenwood speakers should be here this week-end,  but we are gone camping. Also added 2 stainless steel hinges for the cushion on the port side L section as it had to be removed for transport and well, that wasn't cutting it. Also replaced the fender liners with new marine grade plywood and carpet (yes, I used stainless staples, lol). Steering wheel and Rinker logo decal should be here tomorrow.

    A local guy makes swim platforms for $1650, thats a next summer project. Here is some of his work. He builds them with the boat, so has to be dropped off for 2 weeks.

    Yep, not many still have it. Original bimini and carpet. I think the black backing on the carpet is in its beginning stages of deteriorating. I got some black dust like substance spread around the carpet edges after my first tow to the lake. I'm researching if there is some way to encapsulate it and still maintain breathability.

    Flex Seal spray works super good to restore the carpet backing. I wire brushed the loose stuff off - then masked off the edges & sprayed with the product. Turned out great. Gonna get a lot more years outta the carpets.

    Agree. I did mine with white flex seal spray so if it stuck to floor it wouldn’t look so bad🤷‍♂️

    @mattie thank you!

    Also got pictures of the new steering wheel and decal I got from Great Lakes Skipper, plus the Kenwood speakers and then the stainless hinges I added for the seat cushion. Had it on the water yesterday,  4 people, full tank of gas, cooler and hit 41mph, very pleased with that.

    Bottom of my carpets were pretty bad when I bought my boat.  Been spraying flex seal every spring for about 7 years.  Definitely extended their lifespan if you’re not a perfectionist.  Finally having new ones installed next week.

    Nice ride! Our first boat was the bow rider style which we occasionally miss the ease but 2 foot itus caught up to us!
