Need fitting for AC pump

At launch several weeks ago it was discovered my AC hose coming out of AC pump had not been hooked up from winterization.  After some  scrambling (as seacock was open) service manager/mechanic/marina owner hooked hose up but then discovered the fitting was cracked, thus leaking.  He shut off sea **** and as it was late, said go ahead and launch.  Fitting was a 5 minute fix.  He would get part, come to my marina and install it in a few days.  That was several weeks ago and nothing.  I’ve called him, talked to 2 of his office people who promised me they would talk to him and find out status and get back to me.  Nothing.

So now with 80-90 temps, I’ve given up and will try and fix it myself.  Not sure what to order not knowing threads or size.  Below is pics of pump and fitting (gray in center of photo).  Can anyone help with where and what to order?

    Brass Hose Barb Fitting: 5/8" Barb x 1/2" NPT female.

    You might have to do 1/2" NPT male and then a 1/2" brass coupler.

    You can get them on Amazon for under $10.

    @YYZRC I looked up pump model # and it is 1/2 inch.  Did you use brass like this?

    Yes I did use brass. Mine came from the factory with a brass coupler.

    @YYZRC So am I correct that the one I show above does not need that gray piece that you have because the barb is built into the brass fitting?

    @YYZRC  Typically to winterize, is the hose taken off the barb each fall or is the whole thing unscrewed from the pump?

    I remove the hose at the thru hull and run the pump to suck in antifreeze until it comes out the other end.

    If you have a pump you can fill a bucket with the pink stuff and push it through the exit through hull. I never remove the hose. I just pump the pink through till I see it come out the through hull puckup on the bottom of the boat.

    I winterize my AC and genny before haul out. But yes that works if you are on land.

    Was at boat today so caught up with service manager/mechanic/owner.  Said he ordered the part from 2 different places and was sent the wrong part from both.  Thinks he might of ordered a 3rd time but couldn’t remember.  (He was in the bilge of a Chaparrel working on engine at the time).  Said they take off hose from the pump by unscrewing, so would need the 2 part fitting.  I’m not having any luck finding one online.

    @YYZRC you can do it in the water also if you can reach the exit through hull, just need someone to shut the valve once the antifreeze starts flowing.

    I don’t understand why you need a 2 part fitting when you don’t have one now? 

    My boat has a 1/2” NPT brass coupler and then the 1/2” NPT male to 5/8” barb fitting.

    I guess I’m calling what I have now 2 part.  The gray part that screws to the pump.  And then the barbed end that is separated from the gray part with a heavy washer, hence allowing them to rotate independently, thus making a sealed connection from the pump to the AC tubing.

    They grey part is one piece. By loosening the clamps, the grey barbed fitting would rotate on the hose.

    Wow.  I tried rotating mine yesterday and it wouldn’t budge.  Maybe because this one was never rotated, it just kind of “welded” on.

    Those are pex connectors not barb fittings. 

    I would hope your mechanic knows the difference…

    Ooh, just noticed that.  Don’t know if he knows the difference but he bought a box of 30.  With 2 clamps on that end, wouldn’t it work just the same?

    A barbed fitting prevents the hose from backing off because the barbs taper. The nipple is much longer to allow for 2 clamps. 

    The pex fitting does not have any taper on the barbs and is meant for a pex tubing which is rigid. The pex nipple is also a lot shorter. You wouldn’t likely get 2 clamps on it.

    Home Depot has pex to barb/NPT fitting adapters in their pumping section as does Lowe's.   Obviously invention changes between stores so it may mean making trips to a couple.  

    If you have a local true-value or older ace hardware they usually have a larger selection of brass barb fittings.
