Weird electrical issues

Hi all, it's been a while.
My VHF radio won't turn off. If I leave the batteries on, it will send out a very loud alarm about every 20 minutes or so. If I turn the batteries off, the screen goes off, but every 5 minutes, the screen will flash on brightly and go off again.
Now, the music radio has stopped working. It won't turn on at all.
I'm not sure what the problem could be or what to look for.
Any ideas?

    Check battery voltage. The VHF alarm could be a low voltage alarm (mine has it) and the radio not working could be low voltage also.

    @raybo3 voltage is fine. I'm getting an electrician in to look at it.
