Fuel Tanks

2005 342FV - Fuel tanks are not visible (as far as I can tell) and my fuel gauges are unreliable. Anyone know a good trick to determine the amount of fuel in the tank?? I hate to constantly fill them as hauling all that gas is detrimental to performance.

That's a tough one. No tricks I know of. I would get your gauges fixed. Has to either be the gauges or senders. They both on the fritz? If one was working. You could move your valves and just run off that tank.

You can get to the sending units reasonable easy:
Port side: the deck plate under the port seating in the cockpit
Starboard: pull the ice maker, deck plate behind it.
Alternate: remove the side panels from the storage area behind the mirror in the aft cabin.
I'd look at the connections at the tank and clean them up as a start. I installed flow meters and can record fuel usage to the gallon, makes keeping track of the tanks more precise.

I've use fuel flow (smartcraft) for many years and would heavily rely on that more than any gauge. It's definitely worth trying what BD recommended as well.
