starter replacement cost?

I am working on pulling the starter out of my 05 5.7L motor and it is apparently cooked. I will take it to a shop and have it tested, but, with 98 hours on the motor I'd assume it either got wet, or, years of cranking on a bad battery killed the contacts in the selonoid which can happen as I've read. Assuming the worst, am I exchanging this for a remanufactured  one and or a new one? Cost????

    Wholesale marine has new and rebuilt ones at a decent price. I have gotten a starter from them and never had an issue.

    you could just have that one rebuilt I have done this and it was cheaper

    so what is the range? I used to buy "lifetime" alternators for my car years ago...they would die every 6 months...they would replace but not all the stranded time...I sure do not want to tackle this again soon!

    Rebuild is slightly less than new and I believe better than new.

    had one done by a local guy we have used for years $60 can't say if yours will be that but it's what we spent. Guess you got it out

    nope, going to try it this evening....pickup up the deep socket yesterday and a good light to work with so fingers crossed. I was just not sure if I should just buy a new one as I don't know of a shop to take it for rebuild but will start looking. I REALLY want to get back in the water- between the water pump and this I've been down for 3 weeks...
