Cockpit refrigerator rust

As you can see in this picture, the trim around my cockpit fridge started rusting quite a bit over winter. Is there a way to stop this without replacing the trim? If so, what kind of product and how would I prep it?

If it can be easily removed I would take it off and have it sand blasted and powder coated.

Next winter put some open containers of Damp Rid or at least baking soda about your boat. Was your boat shrink wrapped or tarped tight? Was it vented?

walleye- I would pull the trim off, sand it down and then get some rustoleum paint from any of the box stores...it has a rust stopper in it and you should be fine...I'd be real concerned about that much moisture in the boat that would start that to rust- might be getting at your wiring connections and other exposed metal as well.

POR-15. Stops the rust. Then Paint over. Almost indestructable.
