turn engine key will only click .will start eventually

starboard engine will start  but only after several  turning on and off key switch . the boat is booked to get fix  .in the meantime any ideas  turn key switch or the  red kill selenoid on top of engine ?

    slave solenoid atop engine adjacent 'red kill' mentioned... $15 fix... keep an extra onboard...

    just have to go from one end to the other- mine has a similar problem and found the starter had been submerged and had it rebuilt, no problems since. 135 for the rebuilt!

    starter won't be on again off again affair... a solenoid will... it's the solenoid atop the engine, which is there to protect the solenoid on the starter, but isn't to say the one on the starter is good... it could very well be bad...

    Had to replace one on my old boat.
    test light and a helping hand can solve this in few minutes. I vote for slave solenoid myself.
    my old boat started with just once click once in a blue moon and ended up 3-5 turns of a key before starting. I replaced it at that time but should of done it long time ago.

    Had same issue on mine last year,. Very intermittent problem but got worse throughout summer.  Ended up replacing solenoid and fixed the issue.  Easy fix

    Def sounds like the slave solenoid. I had exactly same problem and changed the slave solenoid on mine last week and it now starts first time every time! Really quick, easy and cheap fix!!!
