Zipper on canvas not working

Anyone know how to fix a zipper when it won't connect the 2sides? The zipper is still connected on both sides it just goes up and down without sealing the gap

Thanks

Sounds like there is too much tension on it. Relieve the tension and then see if they zip together

No tension at all Gos up and down smoothly and both sides of canvas have some give

Hmm, but it basically reopens immediately after you zip? If that happens with no tension then the zipper is probably shot. Usually the teeth break off from the sun though before they wear out. Is the pull metal or plastic? All of mine are metal and I've never seen a metal pull wear out (I worked at a sail maker for 10 years).

Your boat is a 2009?  @Liberty44140 is right - the zipper is probably worn out.  On my 342, I replaced all the zippers after something like six or seven years.

Squeeze the two catchers a little and it should close up

The OEM zippers break down from the sun. My original canvas zippers would leave behind bits and pieces.
