Does my 2005 250FV have a fuel filter/water separator standard?

Hi Gang,  I am new to boating and I read a lot about fuel filter/water separator. First, do all newer boats including my 2005 250FV have a fuel filter water separator standard? Second, if it doesn't have one should I put one in the boat even though I try to always put in ethanol free fuel. How often should fuel filter be changed (I boat in the great lakes 4 months of the year)?

Thanks

Yes, should already have one installed. It looks like an oil filter. I change annually based on our 4 month season too.

  • Great, thanks Black Diamond! Is it easy to change or should I have a pro do it?

Should be easy. Get a filter wrench to fit it...make sure you can het it on based on room. They csn really take a set and be tough to get off, so don't over tighten the new one either.

If you shut the fuel off and run the engines you can reduce the gas spill. Something under it to catch gas is a bonus. Make sure to oil the new gasket well.
