Back in the water

in Generator Discussions
boat went back in today after extensive clean and servicing. All good apart from forward bilge blowing a fuse so getting a new bilge pump in tomorrow. 
I get so much pleasure getting her ship shape and doing all those jobs that need doing!

    Yeah but oddly enough there pretty friendly really. Loads of power boats/cruisers to hold our own down there. Got about 2000 boats at my marina. Ive got a great mooring. Nice and quite and lots of space to manoeuvre!

    Sadly not! I really want the diesel but she's great really. Most cruisers here in the uk are diesel. Saying that so are most uk cars. Gas is 3 times the price of diesel at the marina and yeah I know I didn't get into boating to save money but I can't stand being held to ransom! The reliability of diesels are great too!

    Do you have felt covers for those fenders? My paint got scratched up after an idiot friend of mine insisted on using his non covered fenders - 10 mins later, lots of mini scratches.. GRRR

    @Handymans342 I thought of you while reading last month's issue of Power and Motoryacht.  

    Their article on repowering claims that converting to diesel, which made sense decades ago, no longer works for recreational boats.  They argue that gas engines got better and cheaper, while diesel engines are still expensive.  Because the cost difference between gas and diesel fuel has gone away, they say that repowering with diesel is a losing proposition.

    In the uk diesel is far easier to source and at my Marina two thirds of the price of gas. We have one petrol pump at the marina and 4 diesel pumps and last year the petrol pump broke down for 6 weeks!! So had to travel to fill up. I also like the idea of further on a tank without stopping so often. Its only on the wish list for future as my 5.7 GXI is good for now.

    Well when I can buy a used boat with diesels for the same price as gas well its a no brainer.
