Seawater Pump

Changing impeller in a 342 and was unsuccessful closing the seacock. So anticipating water coming out of the hose when disconnecting, I got nothing. Is this normal??

    When I changed my intake hoses at the dock  I closed the seacock and still got a lot of water through the drive and out the hoses

    That should pouring water.may be seacock was stuck closed,but still get water from the out drive.is the sea strainer full?

    Or does the intake hose loop up high above the water line? If so then I could see no water coming out.

    I think the sea strainer is close to the water line,haven't owned a 342 long enough to take the cover off while in the water.

    I have not opened the top of my strainer in the water but when I pull the out hose off at the dock water flows out from the drive

    Thanks guys, The strainer was emptied during weatherization and it needed to be primed to get the water flowing. Once filled it ran fine.

    Good to know that if dry it should be primed. I left antifreeze in mine for the winter
