Speedometer only partially working

DanishgodDanishgod Member Posts: 35 ✭✭

After a season of no issues and a winter of storage, the Faria speedometer has decided to start at 30 miles per hour and not 0.  And it is clearly not working properly - saying I was going 45 mph at 3000 rpm.

Anyone have an idea what the issue is?

the comment "it is a Faria"" makes me think as a newbie boater that there are bigger issues with this instrument.  does any one have comments?

The are not reliable but you can send back for refurbishment

Your tachometers are likely to bounce around, read high, then reset to full scale, drop back and then maybe normalize a few thousand RPM above reality then back to normal. You get used to it. And a tap on the glass doesn't hurt.

Speedo usually has the pick clogged and not read at all. Maybe a partial blockage creating a Venturi producing higher pressure this the speed records you are breaking?  :)

Bravo 3 has a small hole in the bottom of the drive for the speedo.use a small wire to clean out.

You can shot it with some compressed air to clean out.just don't shot to the the speedo.1/4" vacuum line.

Should the speedometer not go back to zero when the engine is not running?  it seems off to sit at 30 mph as a starting point.
