Engine backfire

2003 350 MAG, 330 hours
the engine seems to run fine, but today when we were trying to teach my daughter to slalom, I did get a intermittent backfire when I'd add power. So, she was learning, which means a lot of idle time, but maybe 70%-80% of the time she'd say go, as soon as I started adding power, the engine would backfire, and then run normally. It's just on the intital throttle increase. New plugs and wires last year. Any ideas?
