2000 FV270 Galvanic Isolator?

Anyone know if this model/year might have had a galvanic isolator mounted behind the electrical panel at the factory?

Maybe I can rephrase the question....if there does happen to be one on that year/model, would I be able to see it somewhere behind the electrical panel?

You don't seem to get any answer, maybe if you contact Rinker directly you could find an answer..

Don't know if this was ever answered, but I have a 2000 270 FV and it doesn't have one.  If you did, it would be inline on the green ground line between the shore power inlet and the electrical panel.  I'm installing one since I'm always on shore power and every bit of protection you can give your drive, the better.  Cheers.

I believe the diode is an isolator but not a galvanic type. @Kaptain_Ken do you have a pic of what you are installing???

I've narrowed it down to two likely models.  The Promariner or the Guest.  Both made by same company and similarly priced but different footprints.  So it will come down to what fits.  There's also a company in the U.K. that sells them.  http://www.safeshoremarine.com/buyitnow.htm  I hear good things about them.

This is a real inexpensive way of keeping stray current out of the water and eating your fragile Bravo 3.  I'm lucky in that before I bought the boat last year it was fitted with a new engine, drive and gas tank.  So I'm going to keep this thing in as new condition as I can.

You need this in addition to what comes from Rinker? I thought I was already galvanic isolated....

I was going to ask what was different between this and Mer-Cathode.

All of the boats post 2000 should have a galvanic isolator already installed. They might have installed them even earlier than that. @Alswagg would be able to give a better answer as to when they were installed.

Well I'm not an expert, but I do know that they are two different systems working towards the same thing.  Mercathode works off the 12 volt system, so is therefore working at all times, while a galvanic isolator is connected inline in the shore power feed and functions only when you're connected to shore power.  If you are connected to shore power for any length of time, you really should get a galvanic isolator.
