Feels like boat is struggling to get on plane

I have a 2005 Rinker Captive 232 with the 350 magnum. I purchased the boat 2 years ago and it has always felt like it is struggling to get up on plane? Especially if I am pulling a skier or tuber. Would getting a different prop help significantly? Any suggestions?

    Do you know what prop you have now? Look at your full speed RPM spec on the motor. Take boat out by yourself and run it wide open. Note the RPMs. That will tell you how far off you are if any

    First off when you do get on plane what is your WOT and what prop do you currently have?

    and diameter and current pitch of your prop 
    wot rpm with drive full trim

    I'm top out at 45 mph and rpm about 5000. I don't know what prop I have now. I am getting ready to pull it out of storage and will find out.

    I don't have tabs

    Bravo 3 drive

    I don't know about the prop

    WOT I am at 5k RPM

    Your WOT is right on, 4600-5000rpm is top for a 350mag. Make sure your drive is going all the way down. Seams to me a 232 w/a 350mag should not have any problem getting up and go.

    Thanks for all the advice everyone! All of this was great information. I am defiantly getting tabs and a 4 blade prop. The one you all recommended seems perfect. I just need to take my boat out and figure out exactly what prop I need. From what I read about those 4 blade props it will pull me up a lot quicker and with the tabs I cant imagine not getting what I want out of the boat!

    ha ha! I ended up not making it over to the west coast.. was meeting lots of potential jobs and such.. I will absolutely message you when I start making plans to venture over there!!

    Check the attachment of the rams to the drive.  The pin that goes thru the drive and connects to the pins.  Where the pin goes thru the drive, there is a ‘half-moon’ spacer, make sure the spacer is in FRONT of the pin (towards the bow).

    With no tabs and improper weight destribution you can put a 5 blade lol n get same results 

    get tabs and depending on the age of the props get them reconditioned.

    also why do boats always want to get on a plane lol

    Yes, I'd start with tabs and see how it changes.  You may or may not need to change the prop, but I'm betting you won't have to.  Change and try one thing at a time.

    @Dream_Inn You went to a 4 blade prop and don't even need tabs now!

    There should be trim tabs on the boat already.  I think the recommendation is to use them.

    Maybe basics first like engine maintenance (plugs , distributor caps and plug wires) and a good bottom cleaning. After that then only start thinking about trim tabs and props.

    How does the boat run once on plane? If it runs to full WOT rpm's and speed then tabs will help. If not then its something else............ Just say'n

    Which is exactly why I said start with trim tabs.  His RPM and speed seems right on.
