TV Mount Above Aft

Anyone have experience mounting a TV above the Aft opposite the helm on a 342 where they did on the 06 and later models?  I purchased a 24" Samsung and an articulating arm but not sure how to mount or access rear of that area without removing the entire helm cabinet?  Since it is not 12v is do I need an inverter or can I simply extend the cord to plug into the existing outlet in the current TV cabinet.  I have an 05' so the box TV isn't cutting it.  Thanks for your help.

    I put a 26 inch in the spot I think you're talking about.  I used a fixed mount instead of an arm, but an arm should work.  I had to remove the switch panel on the helm and have a friend hold a box wrench with a nut while I tightened a screw from the inside.  It's a tight spot to be sure and you'll want a helper with skinny arms and good dexterity.

    Thanks Stodge!  Did you run your cable, power and HDMI (External DVD) through that wall as well?  or looks like you came from above?

    I tucked it up in the headliner.  It runs from the opening on the starboard side.  I have power and TV antenna coming from the helm and HDMI coming from where the CD changer used to be which is now a BluRay player.

    Just used a cheap $29 mount, added a piece of cherry wood to the inside to thicken, it up very sturdy, then I use a corded bungee strap for when we're out on the water moving

    Didnt think of that either.  I wonder if I could use articulating mount and store in that corner above the couch? Did you run power back to the original TV Cabinet?  or off the 12v with inverter?

    I installed a 12V TV.  Got power from the helm.

    Finished 19 inch lcd/dvd combo mount today. Now to the Aft 24.  That cabinet where the old box TV was had a ton of space that can now be utilized.  Thanks for the idea.

    Went to install tv above aft and install went great.  Plenty of room and accessible  under helm switch panel.  All clear until I attempted to connect power.  I bought an inverter to put in the helm and pull power from 12v there inverted to 110.  There are 3 black wires going to one clip on receptacle and 1 red wire.  Most connections only have one of each??  Not sure how to wire in the inverter?  Any advice?

    We made a lazy Susan for liquor bottles in the space where the old TV used to be.

    My TV is mounted just like @Stodge.  All wiring (HDMI, Power and Coax runs behind the headliner, closet and then starbord side up to the old TV cabinet.  There is a 120 V box there that is tied into same circuit breaker so it keeps it nice and clean.  I turned the old TV cabinet into a liquor cabinet....which gets used more than the TV.

    Use a digital multi-meter to measure the voltage.  You should have 12VDC between the red and black wire.  But, before using them, you need to figure out what it is fused/breakered at.  If the wires are thin and fused at a lower amperage, it wouldn't be good to use.

    There is the tv and something else plugged in there already.  Anyone know what the other plug is for? Maybe the antenna amp or whatever that box is inside the cabinet?

    Could be the antenna pre-amp.  Mine was able to run on 110V or 12V so I switched it to 12V.

    Dream, did you clip the TV cord and hardwire into an extension cord? or just run an extension cord without hardwire?  May go that route or buy another 12v receptacle and mount inverter as before without hardwire.  The inverter has a fuse so should blow if there is a challenge as well as there being a breaker in the helm tied into the 12v

    I bought a Samsung that runs off of 19V.  I then bought a 12V to 19V DC to DC converter.  I wired the TV directly to the converter.  I actually bought another cord (same as what came with it basically) and clipped that one.  The other cord will allow me to take it home in the winter and use it somewhere else if I want.

    A lot of Samsungs run off of 19V.  Does the power cord have an inverter built in, or is it in the TV?

    It runs on 12v using an external adapter, so I was able to just wire up a direct 12v connection to the TV.

    One word of caution: sometimes the product in the box has an internal converter rather than the 12v plug. You'll want to open the box at the store to check before leaving. There is no way to tell by just looking at the box.

    Thanks all. I’m finally finished. I just bought a 12v socket. Wired it to the 12v in the helm and placed an inverter in the helm near where the mount tied in. That let me use a regular tv on 110  wired everything through a hole to helm compartment and thru closet
