In an alpha outdrive its used to shift into/out of gear. Without it things grind and shear.

You need to be aggressive when shifting the Bravos. Volvo’s have a different setup for the gears. They do not grind.

I may have misspoken. It was actually alpha one drive that I have a small boat that I was referring to.
