You my friend suck. A customer of mine shares my last name. His parents have a canal front home on largo. I keep suggesting i go down there and show up at the sea wall, i mean we're family.
We're officially snow birds this year. Instead of enduring the entire winter in the upper mid west (east central Iowa), we'll be in Venice , Florida for all of Jan., Feb., & March. For what it costs to own & maintain a boat, we'll spend all winter basking in the sun while all our compatriots are up here freezing their a$$es off!
@PickleRick, yeah, Sharkey's isn't too bad, but there is better to be had. What I'm really looking forward to is being able to go to a fresh fish market and getting fresh grouper, wild caught gulf shrimp, Spiny lobster and Triple tail. I'd love to get some Robalo(Snook) but it can't be sold commercially and can only be caught certain times of the year. Another plus is we are close to Sarasota, so plenty of cultural activities.
Oops, Sorry Handy. Lot on my mind. Once we get settled in down there, we'll hook up and have a beer or two. It would be nice if you had a boat we could cruise around on a bit!!!
What's available for rental? We rented a 23ft Nautic Star dual console W/150HP Yamaha outboard from Siesta Key Watersports on Stickney Point Rd just before you go over the bridge, and it was a DOG!!!! We went with them because it was about the only place that allowed you to go out into the gulf. Must have had about 3" of algae on the hull and took forever to get on plane. A far cry from our 246 Captiva with 300 HP -350 MAG MPI, Lenco trim tabs, no bottom paint, always stored in climate controlled bldg, winter-summer, washed down and chamois'd after every dip. She was babied! And she responded like a champ every time. We miss her, but we are paying for our Grand-daughter's college (She has lived with us since she was 14) and that became our number one priority.
Holy $hit, Handy. I was looking at the stats and you joined more than a year after me and you have 7,684 posts to my 554????!!!! Hay Suess! Don't you have more important things to do? LOL!
