They are a funny creature...but you have to wonder why sharks or Gators don't go after them...same with ducks..

I can 100% tell you snapping turtles eat(or at least attack) ducks.  Had some hub cap sized ones tske the heads off of ducks!

I once read and article that said manatee and sharks dont share the same habitat which i call bs on.  The bull sharks patrole those canals in search of an easy meal via discarded fish carcasses via the bait tables on every other sea wall.  They also dont go from island to island without passing the channels the bridges go over and the channels attract all kinds of sharks chasing after those big tarpon.    

Maybe manatee just tastes bad?

Well @icoultha if that makes you feel better...and dream I'd say your 100% except everywhere else got hammered by the hurricanes last several years- we don't get damaging floods, seldom see a tornado and certainly don't deal with earthquakes. And, to top it all off I don't shovel snow. So I will live this life and go for a boat ride...

Seriously? There's no freaking snow and at worst you might have to wear a light jacket. Can do whatever you want! Took me 10 minutes just to get 8 inches of snow off my truck this morning to go to work so I can go home and shovel for an hour later.

No, what I mean up north you can ski, ice skating...snowmobieling   ..we don't have winter clothes....so when it is cold it's just hanging at the house!
