Well, sounds like Red Fox is more work than i want to get into. After seeing a prior survey, it just isnt worth the risk. However...theres another one located up in Severna Park Maryland. Blue hull needs some work, but sounds like the rest of it is in much better shape for not much more money than Red Fox was going to cost.
Handy laid eyes on it. The broker sent me a previous survey. Basic things like Windlass not working, generator had 10k worth of work recently because it had been so neglected when they went to fire it for the survey it shredded the belt. Generator pan is rusted out and needs replaced. All carpet is a mess. Glass needs replaced up front. Dahs panels are all faded. Has a crack above bow thurster in the hull. Just goes to show how poorly it had been maintained. Such a shame for such a rare and pretty boat. If someone lived close, it could be a fun project, but i would be at least 30k into it before it touched my lake.
I did PM you @brandonmayberry . Severna Park isn't too far away. Maybe you can get me the broker info and I can dig a bit further. MD is on only essential driving right now, that's the only issue.

Boat was surveyed back in like August and they provided that to me. Claim to have fixed everything that was wrong on the survey but there was ALOT wrong. minor things like windlass not working, nav lights bad, etc.
One of the items on the list of repairs done was the rebuilding of one engine which the report said the piston rings and valves were corroded and pitted. That was great evidence that the boat sat as moisture mixing with soot is very corrosive to the engine components.
Was the $10k rebuild the generator or the engine work or both? $10k in generator work is strange, you can buy a Koehler marine diesel generator for that boat for $10k.... why sink that much in to a repair?
Everyone who looked at my 242 said the same thing. They would say “you wouldn’t believe the condition of some of the boats we looked at” (Dirty, smelly, seats torn, a lot of water in the bilge). How do they expect to sell them for what they’re asking!
