Unique storage ideas

With the limited space we have on a boat, I thought it would be nice to see how you guys store your boating equipment and everything else. I came up with these spots for the boat hook and manual bilge pump, if you see any issues let me know. I figured the boat hook is right at the transom door and the pump is easily accessible when the engine hatch is opened.

Good job Aero but most of the guys on here only care where they will store the booze 😬

My boat hooks are on each side of the boat along the windshield ledge. I can grab a picture for you later. The spot is perfect for an easy grab when one is in a hurry.

Likewise. When going through locks I hang them from the side Bimini bars so they are handy if needed after I first grab then use the lock hook to hold on.

I’ve been keeping my boat hook along the windshield for years but stopped at the beginning of last summer. The sun made the tips all nasty, fortunately WM sells new tips for $4. I started just putting it away and getting it out when I thought I’d need it. Worked fine. Like Aeros idea as that keeps the tips up out of the sun

You dont need tips.  Live in the edge, sharpen the hook and the poker!

How much under seat storage do you guys have on those bigger boats?

  • aero3113aero3113 Member Posts: 9,853 ✭✭✭✭✭
There’s a decent amount of under seat storage but just don’t want to have to ask passengers to get up if I need something.

I’ll use under seat for beach chairs and toys. Under the captains seat has some safety items. A throwable PFD and a big plastic ammo box with a flair gun, SOS flag, air horn and a bunch of other items.

Find a guy with a 60-footer and ask if he has enough storage space!

I don't use a hook. I throw on a cowboy hat and throw a lasso when I get to the dock. 🤠

@aero3113, no it has not moved on me. Not that I have been in water that was crazy rough. I have crossed wakes on the river and the stay in place. I have one on the port side and one on the starboard side.

Like your pump placement.  I stuffed mine between the 3 batteries and hullsides.  My boat hook is similar to your photo to Cableguy, but the hook is looped over grab handle support.  I was always worried it might slide if up on that narrow ledge.

Anyone ever put anything in the access port that is by the captains left foot and faces starboard. Good amount of room for storing things you may need at all times such as first aid kit or whatever

I put foam on the ledge behind the trim tab motor and have 6 fishing rods setting on the shelf.  I secured a cargo net across the entire opening to keep them from falling out.  I'll send a final picture when boats out of storage.

I like the idea of fishing rods in the engine compartment.

I found a good spot for my oils and cleaner bin on top of the water heater and the tool box bungeed in front of the batteries.

I'm gonna make up a small bin like that too.

Engine oil, trim fluid, spare serpentine, engine room tools, etc.

R/N I have that stuff spread around in cabin storage lockers - that should be repurposed for more fun things. ie: COOLIE CUPS

Anyone know where to get clips for those hooks? I store mine in the same place you guys show in the picture. Our Crownline has a very similar ledge but it will occasionally fall off. Thought the clips would keep it there. Our Crownline has very nice and comfortable seating but the storage sucks. Guess you have to give up something...lol

@aero3113: only one tool box? 😆😆  Somehow I have a full socket set box and (3) plastic tool boxes on board. Oh and a small multi drawer type for electrical connectors and such.  😂😂
