You can find the clips at a lot of marine supply and online places. Even your local hardware store has clips for shovels, brooms etc. that would work. I bought a set at a boat show a few years ago, but so far haven't had the gonads to use the mounting screws for them that would require putting holes in the boat. There are also some out there that are double sided so that one side clips onto a top rail or side rail etc and the other side holds the boat hook. Or "C'mere Stick" as i call it.
Ironically, even on my 40-foot boat, the engine room has exactly zero space for storage. There's great clearance for maintenance, but not storage.
In my transom locker, I have a row of hooks for hanging lines. That way, it's easy to quickly grab the right line. Also keeps them off the deck so they dry faster.
My wife came up with these items for the galley. The spice rack is held on with double sided tape, the individual spices are held on by a magnet on each one. The paper towel rack came with a big stick onpiece of plastic with hooks on it.
I did buy some stackable bins to put along the midship berth but obviously takes space away from that. Don't get me wrong- our 270 is perfect for what we do. Eith the camper package up its huge..
Speaking of Admirals rule - not actually storage ideas but my Admiral did make some awesome removable custom fender covers from black Walmart towels for the new Yamaha SX195. I got into the game by re purposing a broken car wash brush handle. Cut the end off, made a loop of coated cable, crimped the end, slid that into the open end, drilled a hole and inserted a bolt and aircraft nut and topped-off with a rubber chair leg cover to use as a push stick. I have made a number of these over the years and they make snagging a dock cleat in a breeze - a breeze.
@TonyG13 .....hey Tony I have made at least a dozen of these for friends. Usually converting a standard boat hook whose tip has broken off. A couple of times I added the loop to a perfectly good one. The Admiral loves it. There are two "styles" - big loop that goes around a full sized cleat or smaller loop (like the one shown) that just snares one side of a cleat. The Admiral likes that "style" better as she can flip it off the cleat if she wants to easier than if it was fully looped around. Cheap and fast to do! This was my first "car wash handle" conversion (LOL) but same principle - an adjustable telescopic aluminum pole!
Not a storage idea but my wife bought this cast iron skillet for the stove top. Works great for pancakes! Next time we’ll have some bacon and eggs also.
